Dawn. The morning sun peeks over the top of the distant, gently rolling hills to the East. The dew glistens in the golden light of early day. In the growing light, the silence is only broken by the occasional chirping bird.
The ball goes up. A shrill whistle. The distant thump of a field gun. The dogs of war unleashed, gnomes charge across the plain, shouting their ferocious battle cry amidst the din of staccato machine gun fire punctuated by mortar explosions and the massive "CRUMP" of an artillery shell. As the cacophony of combat reaches it's crescendo, one voice can be heard above it all, bellowing, "FOLLOW ME!"
Until now, my combat garden gnomes have been warriors without a leader. Gnome officer candidate school takes time, but I've finally come up with this guy:
A fearless leader at the forefront of any fight, I've sculpted him looking back over his shoulder and urging his troops forward. I'm especially proud of the facial expression:
I'll be starting on the molds for this guy today and then I'll be offering up painted and unpainted copies in my etsy shop: http://etsy.com/shop/thorssoli
Stay tuned...
I LOVE your gnomes - I can't decide which one to buy for my Navy boyfriend's birthday. I'm leaning toward waiting for the officer - partially because I can buy it painted, partially because he's an officer. I may have to get two. You are awesomely talented - the first aid box is also really cool and if you decide to make those to sell, I'm sure you'll have a line up of folks wanting to buy those too (me included).
ReplyDeleteLove your work, how about a gnome running a ma deuce?
ReplyDeleteActually, it's on my list. But I'm thinking I'll make a flamethrower gnome next.
DeleteAre you going to be painting any of the currently unpainted ones? I'd really love to get my hands on a painted prone rifle gnome...
ReplyDeleteIn addition to the unpainted gnomes I currently have listed, I've got another 70+ gnomes in various stages of painting. I will list them as they get finished. Hopefully it won't take too much longer. I refuse to list anything that isn't ready to ship.
DeleteKeep your booger finger off the bang switch.
ReplyDeleteBad gnome! Don't touch the trigger until you are ready to shoot!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to get some of these. I like painting them; I did a couple of kissing Dutch girls (yeah, you read that right), one of them as Bettie Page with leopard print, fishnet stockings, etc. I think they need some bodyguards.
ReplyDeleteSean when will you do Spartan gnomes? I would fill my yard with UNSC and covie gnomes!
ReplyDeleteHow do i go about ordering a few of these
ReplyDeleteNeed girl gnomes and guns.
