Lifesized ED-209 Build: Part 2
The next installment in the "Building Up to Maker Faire" series is now live:
Work continues in the shop at breakneck speed:
Alright, that photo's not a great example. Here's the gun pod almost ready to mold:
Here I am with the first two copies of the lower leg out of the mold:
And these are the toes coming together:
More to come. I have 59 days to get the prototypes finished, molds made, parts pulled, assembled, painted, and loaded up on a truck to head to the event. It's getting pretty exciting.
Stay tuned...

Lifesize ED-209 Build, Part 1
The folks at MAKE Magazine have been working with me to chronicle the building of a lifesize replica of ED-209 from the original Robocop movie. They've been sending their video crew to the workshop to get updates on the project and this is the first one they've posted:
You can read the article I wrote to accompany the video by clicking HERE. This thing is going to be huge:

Coming to the Bay Area Maker Faire, May 17th and 18th!
Last night I found out that my application to the Bay Area Maker Faire was accepted!
So if you're in the Bay Area on the 17th and/or 18th of May, be sure to stop by and check out my exhibit. I'll be on hand both days to answer questions and show off my latest project currently in progress. Here's a teaser pic of some of the pieces coming together:
Those of you who grew up in the 80's and get excited about giant robots might be able to recognize it already. The rest of you should head over to makezine.com and read a bit more about the project.
On top of having this guy together and on display, I'll also be bringing back some of my other characters to walk around at the Faire:
Also, if you've been looking for the lowest price anywhere on my Combat Garden Gnomes, I'll have a booth there selling them as well:
The best part about the whole event? Everything. There will be art projects, engineering projects, things shooting fire, adults racing souped-up powerwheels cars, and all sorts of fun activities for the whole family. Come early, stay late, and see some really amazing things!
